Soffe Cup
interclub tennis resumes tomorrow after a break last week because of the
Christie Cup match. The feature match is the match at Rotokare between
the two unbeaten sides, competition leaders, Hareb Deken Oakura and second
placed Central Finance Rotokare who are only 1 point behind. The
likely top match ups are between Oakura's No 1 Josh Walden and Rotokare's
Ben Pollard and Oakura's No 2 John Hardie Boys and Chris Popata. In the
women's matches, Oakura's Alesha Ford could face Kelly Toa with Rotokare's
No 1 Catherine Stevenson unavailable. In the No 2 match, Oakura's Sue
Oldfield is likely to play Oki Toa or Alison Chamberlain. Oakura looks
to be the favourite due to the superior strength of their women.
Third placed
Sandfords Manaia should have a comfortable win against fifth equal Hawera at
Hawera's grasscourts. Manaia have a very good men's line -up. In the top
two matches, Manaia's Jason Mills or Jordan Fleming should play Neil McCann
and Jordan Fleming or Cameron Koch should play Conrad Heron. In the
women's matches, Manaia's Nicole Koch will play Sheri De'ath and Irene
Cruikshank will play Mary Ellen Annabell.
Fourth placed
Hooker Pacific Pukekura travels to Matapu to play the McDonald's Real Estate
sponsored side who are in fifth equal place. The top matches are likely
to be Pukekura's Dennis Reid against Jason Hurley and Tony Radich against
Andy Roberts. In the women's matches, Pukekura's Linda Reid will play
Krystal Oakes and Donna Thorne will play Helen Kelly. Pukekura should come
away with a win.
AWE Huatoki
should get its first win against bottom of the table Lockwood Design and
Build Okaiawa at Huatoki. Huatoki's No 1 Jono Ussher should beat Andrew
Powell and Amrit Rai should have a close game against Vincent Baylis.
In the women's matches, Huatoki's Chris Wilson will play Joanne Gyde and
Megan O'Donnell will play Megan Gyde and both Huatoki women should win.
