Manaia have a chance to get their season back on track when they play the
combined Waiwaka/Stratford/Midhirst at Midhirst on Saturday. Manaia
lost their first game of the season to McDonalds Real Estate Matapu but they
were without their top players, Jason Mills and Nicole Koch who will be back
this week. The likely top matches are Jordan Fleming against David
Innes, Jason Mills against David Chamberlain, Nicole Koch against Krystal
Oakes and Ginny Death against Alison Chamberlain. Manaia are
favourites in all those matches.
AWE Huatoki are
away to Oakura and are likely to pick up another win. Oakura will again be
without their No 1 Aaron Hine unavailable) so Josh Walden will play
Huatoki's Jonno Ussher. Ussher, Taranaki' s No 1, will win that but in the
other top men's match Oakura's John Hardie Boys is favoured against Roy
Gaskin or Rakesh Rai. In the women's singles, Oakura's Leah Fletcher
will play Saori Han in what should be a close match and Becky Bruckner will
play Janice Taylor. Taylor will start favourite.
Hooker Pacifc
Pukekura will no doubt continue thier unbeaten run against Matapu at
Pukekura. Matapu will be no easy beats, having shown good form in their two
matches so far. After the top two men's matches, Pukekura's Michael
Fleming agisnt Tom Luxton and Meto Snegirev against David White, the scores
should be one all. Fleming and White are favoured. Matapu could have
the advantage in the No 3 and 4 matches with Rodney Perrett and Jason Hurley
playing Paul Simpson and NIck Steventon or Daimon Stewart. In the women's
singles Pukekura's No 1, Linda Reid will play Jen White and Donna Thorne
plays Helen Kelly. The Pukekura pair are favoured.
