Selector Bruce
Cleland (Stratford) is confident his representative tennis team has the
experience to defend the Christie Cup against Wanganui on Sunday.
Although there are several players unavailable, there is only one player
making their debut, Hawera's Neil McCann. Manaia's Cameron Koch who
has been attending school in Cambridge, last played for Taranaki in 2005/6
as did Irene Cruikshank - on that occasion in the B team. When these
sides met a year ago, Taranaki won 18-6.
If Taranaki are
successful the Cup goes on the line again in February against Manawatu.
The team is Ben
Pollard ( Rotokare) , Jono Ussher ( Huatoki), Cameron Koch ( Manaia), Neil
McCann (Hawera), Josh Walden(Oakura), John Hardie Boys ( Oakura)
Alesha Ford (
Oakura), Sue Oldfield (Oakura), Linda Reid (Pukekura), Leah Fletcher (
Oakura), Irene Cruikshank( Manaia), Donna Thorne (Pukekura)
Unavailable -

Jordan
Fleming is attending school in Cambridge and will represent Waikato this
season.
The match at
Rotokare Tennis Club gets underway at 10am.
There is no
Soffe Cup or A grade this weekend.
The junior reps
play a triangular. The 14s are at Pukekura starting at 9am on Saturday and
Sunday.
