Whilst tennis nominations didn't win any category at this years Sportsperson of the Year awards, all were worthy nominations.  It is hard to compete as a local team with good  performances locally (ie Soffe Cup or Taranaki A Team) against teams whose competition is essentially at a NZ level.  Guest speaker was Tab Baldwin - NZ Basketball Coach, who gave a very good insight into his philosophies on coaching.

Winners were:

2003 The Daily News Sportsperson of the Year Award - Aimee Mason, cricket.
Sportsman of the Year - Andrew Hore, rugby.
Sportswoman of the Year - Aimee Mason, cricket.
Junior Sportswoman of the Year - Rebecca Reidy, volleyball.
Junior Sportsman of the Year - Chris McEldowney, squash.
Junior Sports Team of the Year - Clifton Club girls' novice coxed four, rowing.
