In Soffe Cup
tennis tomorrow, the match of the round will be second placed Hareb Deken
Oakura versus fourth placed AWE Huatoki at Huatoki. Unless Huatoki has
its strongest team available, Oakura will be favourites after toppling
Pukekura 14-2 last week. The top men's singles should be Huatoki's Jonno
Ussher against Aaron Hine or Josh Walden and the No 2 match should be
Tristan or Jordan Stayt against Steve Novak or John Hardie-Boys. The
scores should be level after those matches with Ussher and Novak favoured.
In the women's
singles, Huatoki's Lucy Barlow or Saori Han will play Leah Fletcher and in
the No 2 match Han or Janice Taylor will play Sue Oldfield. Unless
Barlow plays, Oakura should take out both matches.
In the first
round it was an 8-8 draw.
Sandfords
Manaia have their first game of the year and are at home to Waiwaka
/Stratford/Midhirst. They should chalk up their second win of the season.
Top matches are likely to be Manaia's Jason Mills or Jordan Fleming playing
Gavin Phelan or Michael O'Sullivan and Fleming or Michael Gates playing
O'Sullivan or David Chamberlain.
In the women's
singles, Manaia should take out both matches if they have Nicole Koch and
Alesha Ford available. They will play Krystal Oakes and Jayden Bruce
or Alison Chamberlain.
In the first
round it was a 8-8 draw.
In the first
round Hooker Pacific Pukekura won 14-2 against McDonald Real Estate Matapu
and they will want a similar scoreline at Matapu to get their season back on
track after losing their last two matches and slipping from second to third
on the points table. If they are back to full strength they should have no
trouble. No 1 Michael Fleming will play David White and No 2 Zac Wills
will play Kyle Crowley.
The top women's
matches are likely to be Pukekura's Linda Reid against Jen White and Helen
Kelly against Donna Thorne.
