Talented tennis player Ajeet Rai is this year's junior sportsman of the year.

NZ's No.1 ranked 18 and under player, the 16 year old represented his country at the Junior Davis Cup playing at No.1 and winning 90% of his matches.
At national level, Rai and his partner won the Junior International 18s ITF Canterbury Doubles title and were semifinalists in the Junior International 18s Auckland Hardcourt competition.

He also won the NZ Lawn Tennis singles title and four Taranaki titles; men's singles, 18 singles, 18 doubles, 16 singles.
