Rained affected all  the Soffe Cup matches on Saturday. No matches were completed in the Stratford v Sandfords Manaia match at Stratford.
 
In the Hooker Pacific Pukekura v Midhirst match at Pukekura, Pukekura were leading 9-1 when rained intervened. In the top men's sing;es, Midhirst's Jono Ussher had an upset win over Zac WIlls, 6-0, 2-6, 7-6. Ussher played No 5 in the Taranaki team a fortnight ago while Wills was at No 2. Three of the other singles matches went to third set tie breakers, the number two singles between Pukekura's Tony Radich and Michael O'Sullivan, the No 3 match between Meto Snegirev and Val Cleaver and the No 4 women's singles between Jeanette Harding and Pam Wray.  The rest of the points were shared giving Pukekura a 12-4 win.   Pukekura's big win and Manaia's draw means that Pukekura won the first round by 0.5 points and will go into the second round as the top seed.
 
Accent on Curtains Waiwaka had a 8.5 to 7.5 win over Kaponga as Waiwaka . They were leading 5-4 when the rain came.
Waiwaka won all the men's singles easily but Kaponga won three out of four singles.  No 1 Krystal Oakes surprisingly beat Nicki Martin; Maree Jones beat Clare Fairey and Michelle Atkins beat Glenda Frost.
