Top seed, Okaiawa's Hamish Mead won the 16 Boys singles title at
the Dunlop Slazenger Wanganui Junior Open defeating Tyler Titov-Smith 4-6 6-4
6-4. Mead combined with Bradley Wallis to also finish runner-up in the 16
Boys Doubles, losing 6-4 6-3.
Brady Simpson (Pukekura Park) lost in the 2nd round of the 16 Boys singles but
recovered to win the Consolation without dropping a set.
Pukekura's Louise Waite was also a top seed, in the 14 Girls singles.
Waite was untroubled in taking the title 6-2 6-3 over Christy Robinson.
Seeded 2 in the doubles, Waite and Meg Henderson prevailed in the final, 4-6 6-4
10-8.
Nikayla Barnard (Pukekura Park) won the 10 Girls singles title and Jayden
Harrison (Oakura) won the 10 Boys singles title. Oscar Wano (Waiwaka) made
it to the semi-final and Maui Wano (Pukekura Park) lost in the first round.
Oscar and Maui Wano finished runners-up in the 10 Boys doubles.
Jayden Harrison, Oscar Wano, David Barnard and Kristian Revfeim all entered the
12 Boys singles with Harrison getting to the quarter-finals and David Barnard
winning his first round match. In the 12 Boys doubles, Revfeim combined
with Wanganui's Patrick Hourigan and won their first round match 6-4 4-6 15-13
before losing to top seeds Harrison/Barnard 6-0 6-0. Unfortunately,
Harrison/Barnard lost their next match.
