The Soffe Cup Tennis semi-finals took place on Saturday.  Pukekura overcame the challenge of Huatoki 10-2 and Rotokare were defaulted to by Oakura.

Pukekura fielded a strong team, with sporadic top player Caleb Fleming deciding to make himself available.  Unfortunately, Jordan Whittleston was unavailable so super-sub Andrew Moffat stepped in for the team in the number four spot.  The other two spots for the Pukekura men were filled by Michael Erb playing two and Mark Belcher playing three.  Huatoki, unable to play Jayden Harrison, fielded Alistair Nairn, Murray Keast, Ross Lilley and Dave Innes.  Pukekuraís women were also very strong with Nikayla Barnard, Ella Rogers, Derryn Fleming and Linda Reid filling the four spots.  Huatokiís women were Sophie Robertson, Chris Wilson, Diana Carswell and Karen Maclean.

The singles all went the way of Pukekura, apart from the number four menís match.  Dave Innes managed to outlast Andrew Moffat 3-6 7-6(5) 6-2.  Sophie Robertson showed some stiff resistance but was eventually overcome by Nikayla Barnard 6-3 6-4.  This left Pukekura in a commanding position heading into the doubles.  Huatokiís Robertson and Wilson managed to earn a hard-fought victory over Barnard and Rogers in the womenís top doubles, 3-6 6-3 7-6(8).  This was Huatokiís only doubles win, however, so the semi-final was decided before the combines took to the court.  Erb and Reid won their combines 9-7 to leave Pukekura 10-2 ahead and no further matches needed to be played.

Due to injuries and circumstances beyond the control of Oakura, the second semi-final was a default, so Rotokare will take on Pukekura in the final at Pukekura Tennis Club.

In the Wilson Trophy, Inglewood beat Rotokare 10-6 and Pukekura beat Oakura 9-7. This means Pukekura will travel to Inglewood for the final.

In the Sumpter Trophy, South Combined beat Huatoki 11-5 and Pukekura beat Oakura 12-4. This means Pukekura will travel down to Manaia to take on South Combined in the final
