Taranaki played Hawkes Bay in a senior representative tennis fixture for the first time in five years on Saturday.

Taranaki led 12-11 with the No 2 combines between Max Ladame and Leith Atkins (Taranaki) and Jason Kitching and Victoria Kerrison still in progress at one set each.

Being the decider, this match attracted the cheering support of all the other players and spectators who were on the edge of their seats, time and time again.

When it looked like Taranaki would secure the win, the Hawkes Bay pairing fought back to take the match in a third set tie-breaker, 6-7, 7-5, 7-6, making the final result a 12 all draw. 

 The match was tied up 6 all after the singles with the men and ladies winning three games a -piece.  Three match winners for Taranaki were Nicki Mills and young Zac Wills.  Aaron Hine (captain), Chris Patten and young newcomer, Clare Fairey won two. 

The match was played in ideal condition s at the Rotokare Club courts, the venue receiving high praise from the visiting team. 

Taranakiís next representative fixture is against Wanganui on November 28th, again to be played at Rotokare.
