Oakura retained the lead in the Soffe Cup competition after the final round of the year when they defeated Farmlands Okaiawa/Manaia 13-3.  Siblings Jamie and Brady Simpson won all of their matches as did Jackie Keenan, Ana Spurdle and Poppy Mitchell, who played very well.  Jamie Simpson was too strong for Hamish Mead 6-3 6-3 whilst Brady Simpson routed Andrew Powell 6-0 6-0.  They then combined for a doubles win 6-2 6-1.  Alaister Murdoch took a singles win for Okaiawa/Manaia over Len Adamson 2-6 6-6 6-2 and then partnered with son Josh for a 6-3 6-1 doubles victory.  Caroline Jackson continued her good recent form with a win over Chris Davies 2-6 6-4 7-6(4).

Huatoki had wrapped up a winning margin against Thompson O'Neil Stratford before rain curtailed play.  The city side were leading 10-1 when play was abandoned.  Ajeet Rai was super impressive defeating Bruce Cleland 6-0 6-0 in the no.1 matchup.  Jayden Harrison at 2 and Chris Popata at 4 were similarly impressive defeating Grant Kite and Ryk Ferguson respectively.  Stratford's Michael Boland caused an upset when he easily won his match against Alistair Nairn 6-0 6-4.  Huatoki's Hikaru Han return from injury was successful when she ground out a win over Lynn Stanners 6-7 6-4 6-2 whilst Tracey Old, Ellen O'Byrne and Lorraine Heerdegen were comfortable enough over Kristen Laurie, Katie Stanners and Anna Hutterd.

Central Finance Rotokare and RE/MAX Pukekura battled it out throughout the day but both teams had to settle for an 8-8 draw.  For Rotokare, Blair Crowley got the win over Meto Snegirev 6-7 6-4 7-6 whilst Kyle Crowley went down to David Barnard 6-4 2-6 6-1.  Andrew Hood and Kerry Dwyer wrapped up the two remaining men's singles.  Karen Cranston won another for Rotokare when she quashed a spirited bid from Kirsten Adam 6-1 3-6 6-1 and Chantelle Peters also played well to secure a win over Alison Gadsby.  Pukekura took the other two ladies matches to lead 5-3 after the singles and held the lead 7-5 after the doubles matches.  Combinations were then strategically mixed up in the combines and Rotokare proved to be better at that game winning three and therefore coming back to secure a draw in the tie.

The focus for tennis in Taranaki will now shift to the NZ Grass Court Championships / Taranaki Open held in Hawera, 27-30th December.  Ajeet Rai, who is also the No.1 junior in New Zealand, is the early favourite to retain his title.
