2 April 2013

Smiling faces of the winning team in the 70's Jillian Roberts (Wgtn) Robyn Masters, Jeanette Harding, Beth Webster, and Lindsay Bird (H Bay).  Congratulations ladies you did extremely well coming through on the last day to win on a count back by one set; a grand effort.

Our 45's team of Julie Foley, Becky Bruckner, Karen Conaglen and Linda Reed played off for 5th and 6th place but rain stopped play and we are unsure of the final result.

The 50's team of Chris Davies and Chris Wilson combined with two Waikato ladies Sandra Glennie and Dianne McMinn  finished 6th.

The men's 65 started with Val Cleaver, Denis Whiting, Randall Croon, Trevor Reid, and Peter McNiece.  Unfortunately Val withdrew as his wife Lois was ill and then Denis pulled a calf muscle in their first match and that was the end of his tournament.  South Auckland loaned the boys a player, Deece Guisinger, an American.  In a tough section they did well to finish 4th.

Everyone assure me the tennis was great and lots of fun was had.  The 2014 Teams Event is to be held in Tauranga - so keep this in mind.

A little sooner than that is our "Masters & Mistress Mixed Doubles Tournament" to be held on 20th April. Time to find yourself a partner and get your entry in to Beth.
